Route 66 Natural Bridge Cruise 2009
Some of us started our trip on Friday and some on Saturday. We got to the hotel which was very nice. It had a fancy old fashioned feel to it. Some thought of the "Shining".
We were greeted by our other family pt'ers and sat around and "partied".
The next morning we got up and had breakfast in the dining room of the hotel then headed over to meet up with our Saturday travellers at the Safari Park. What a beautiful day for this the sun was shining and it was comfortable temperature. There we got onto an open tractor pulled wagon and was handed each a bucket of feed. We had some conversations "that only you can imagine" that made our tour guide blush. We proceeded through the park and were greeted by MANY HUNGRY animals ready to eat out of our buckets. Some even took them from us. We laughed SO HARD! Thad had a Camel tailgater that no matter how fast we drove he kept up with us eating away. We left the ride and went to visit with the rest of the animals. We even got to see a momma and baby kangaroo (pouch & all). We made great time. Next we got to meet up with other PT'ers from the Star City Cruisers from Roanoke at the Pink Cadillac Diner for lunch. It's always fun to get a bunch of PTs together in any parking lot, and meet new people. After lunch we went to the Natural Bridge.
We toured the Toy Museum-funny to see the old toys. The Wax Museum-Creepy! Then we shuttled DOWN to the bridge. What a beautiful creation that was nature made. Pictures and words cannot describe, you really have to see it for yourself. After we went back to the hotel to freshen up and get dressed for colder weather.
We met up and went back over to the bridge for the Night Creation Light Show. This was scripture taken from the bible with music and pretty lights to light the bridge.
After the show was over we headed to the hotel bar for some dinner and drinks. Santa even had a newlywed couple have their picture taken with them for their Christmas cards. Then we headed back to the hotel lobby and "partied" again. We listed to ghost stories from NY Tom and had a great time. What a Day!
Sunday we woke up and had breakfast again in the hotel restaurant then headed out. Thad & Santa headed to the D-Day memorial in Bedford. The rest of us headed back to the bridge for some morning pictures and then off to the Natural Bridge Caverns.
This is the deepest caverns on the east coast. It's so facinating to see all the caves and what they have to offer. We even got to see an icky bat!
Just a short jot down the street we stopped at "Foamhenge". What a laugh, we had some funny posed pictures taken there. Down the road we headed to a little "Country Store" bought some homemade jams and potato chips.
Then off to Lexington for some lunch at Applebee's. From there almost everyone split up. A couple headed off to the Apple House for donuts. We headed out I-64 and saw beautiful mountains and farms.
Dave, Adam and I couldn't have asked for a better trip. The weather, scenery, and the company were terrific. Thanks Guys!

Friday night we will have a 50's party complete with a beautiful tribute to Elvis. The Glow show will be help in the hotel parking lot. The show was held at Locust Shade Park. The park offered lots of fun activities including pedal boats, mini golf and of course PT watching! The show was dedicated to Brent William's memory. We had his car on display at the show as well as some of our favorite pictures of Brent. Here's a link to a photo galleries fromone of the attendees:
